Common questions
How do I grant Screen Recording permission?
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording and enable DeckBlast. Then click the DeckBlast menu bar icon and select "Check Again" to refresh the permission state.
How do I grant Microphone permission?
Microphone permission is only needed for DeckBlast Pro's audio transcription feature. The first time you toggle "Record & Transcribe Audio" on, macOS prompts for permission. If you missed the prompt or denied it: open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and enable DeckBlast. The free tier never accesses the microphone.
Where does DeckBlast save the PDF?
DeckBlast shows a standard macOS save dialog when you click Stop Capturing. You choose the filename and location. DeckBlast does not retain a copy of the exported PDF.
Does DeckBlast send any data to our servers?
The free tier doesn't. The free, capture-only flow runs entirely on your Mac and makes no network calls.
The Pro tier does, but only when you generate an AI speaker summary. Slide images and the speaker transcript text are sent to our servers (and from there to our AI provider) to generate the summary, then discarded — we don't retain a copy. Audio is transcribed locally on your Mac using on-device speech recognition, so raw audio never leaves your device. We don't collect personal information, don't require an account beyond Apple's standard subscription, and don't sell or share data. See the privacy policy for the full data flow.
What does an AI speaker summary look like?
For Pro users, each captured slide in the exported PDF is followed by a short summary of what the speaker said while that slide was on screen — typically 2–4 sentences. The summary is concise and meant to be skimmable, like meeting notes. AI-generated summaries can occasionally contain errors or omissions, so we recommend reviewing the output before relying on it for important decisions.
Which languages does DeckBlast support for transcription?
DeckBlast Pro supports transcription in 35+ languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Turkish, and many others. Transcription runs locally on your Mac. Speaker summaries are generated in the language of the meeting.
How do I subscribe to DeckBlast Pro?
Click the DeckBlast menu bar icon and select Subscribe to DeckBlast Pro. The paywall appears with four options: Pro Monthly ($4.99), Pro Yearly ($49.99 — saves 17%), Pro Plus Monthly ($9.99), and Pro Plus Yearly ($99.99 — saves 17%). Pro includes 3 hours of AI summaries per month; Pro Plus includes 10 hours. Tap a plan to complete the purchase through Apple's standard StoreKit flow.
How do I cancel my DeckBlast Pro subscription?
Cancel through your Apple ID's subscription settings: open App Store → your account icon → Subscriptions → DeckBlast → Cancel Subscription. You can also use the direct link: https://apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro access through the end of the current paid period.
How do I request a refund?
Refunds for App Store subscriptions are handled by Apple. Visit https://reportaproblem.apple.com/, sign in with your Apple ID, find the DeckBlast charge, and follow Apple's refund flow. Three Poplars LLC does not directly issue refunds for App Store purchases.
What happens to my data when I cancel?
Your captured slides and exported PDFs are stored on your Mac and are unaffected by cancellation. On our servers, your subscription record is retained for 12 months after cancellation for refund support and chargeback handling, then deleted. Per-request operational metadata (timestamps, durations) is retained for 90 days.
I found a bug. What should I include in my email?
Please include: your macOS version, the version of DeckBlast (check the About window or Mac App Store), the steps to reproduce the bug, and what you expected to happen versus what actually happened. A screenshot or screen recording of the issue is very helpful.
